For 2022, Slingshot has evolved the SST, Their legendary kitesurfing kite, to be better than ever for any wave in the world. The additional curve of the Slingshot SST V6's new wingtip, when combined with the IRS bridle technology, provides added speed, responsive handling and has completely revolutionized its upwind performance and water relaunch.

NEW MICRO STRUTS

The Slingshot SST V6: Their thinnest and lightest struts ever. These smaller diameter struts provide plenty of overall structure to the kite while still keeping down the weight and drag to enable next-level drift and response.

NEW CLEAN CANOPY

Slingshot reduced canopy paneling from 138 individual panels to 20. This reduction decreases the kite's overall weight while also providing a more aerodynamic canopy profile.

NEW STREAMLINED IRS BRIDLE SYSTEM

Slingshot pushed the possibilities of the IRS bridle even further by using more premium materials. The bridle line thickness has been reduced by 25% and riders will feel less drag through the air due to this streamlining.

TESTED TOUGH

For the Slingshot SST V6, They wanted to open up testing beyond our professional test team to the people who use our kites the most: our customers. We conducted a study over a three-month period where our customers tested the R100 (SST V6 prototype name) and their feedback, data and input proved invaluable as it helped confirm a statistical and significant leap in performance from the previous SST model.

A completely redesigned Trailing Edge shape has been implemented on the RPX. Reshaping the trailing edge has allowed us to eliminate areas of turbulence, drag and flutter. Clean By Design 

The Slingshot RPX is loaded with innovative technology that includes a new streamlined premium FlyLine Bridle System. This new system boasts a diameter of a mere 1.6mm which is a 25% reduction from the previous version. It’s stronger, lighter, and allows the kite to move through the air with less drag. The canopy of the RPX had been designed to meet the needs of the modern kiteboarder. This new and highly refined canopy profile features a reduction of 88 panels from its predecessor: the RPM. The result is a one-two punch of weight reduction and cleaner airflow.

We reduced canopy paneling from 108 individual panels to 20. This reduces the kite's overall weight while also providing a more aerodynamic canopy profile. 

NEW STREAMLINED FLYLINE BRIDLE SYSTEM

The FlyLine bridle is an invention found we used on the RPM for the past two years. During the development of the RPX, we wanted to push the possibilities of that bridle even further. By using more premium materials we were able to reduce the bridle line thickness by 25%. Riders will instantly feel less drag through the air due to this new streamlined bridle. 

NEW ONE PUMP SPEED SYSTEM

The patented Slingshot invention now used industry-wide has gotten an upgrade. We have increased our One Pump tube diameters for cleaner airflow for easier inflation as well as repositioned the tubes to be more streamlined and durable.

Slingshot sacrificed nothing and maximized everything when they designed the all-new strutless UFO to be our pure, unlimited performance foiling kite. This travel takes time and historically pulleys were the only way we could initiate it. With the IRS bridle the bungee does it and does it better. Modified Open C Canopy
We decreased the open-C arc of the RPM in favor of a fuller and deeper C. This is a significant change to the kite, on the beach, it will look about the same, but in the air, anyone who knows the RPM will see and feel the difference right away. This difference in shape has a big impact on performance - most notably in overall power, structural stability, hangtime, and control in the air.

The Original 3 Strut Platform:
Three struts give the RPM the magical combination of lightweight steering, instant response and handling, as well as maximum pull and carry making it the leading freeride/freestyle kite on the market.

Flyline Bridle System
A combination of the pulleyed bridle featured on previous RPM models and the bungee IRS bridle we engineered a few years ago. We introduced pulleys on the RPM to give the kite more structural stability and dynamic steering. Then we replaced the pulleys with our IRS bungee system to achieve a more direct feel and smoother power delivery as the kite flies through the window. The FLYLINE bridle combines both pulley and bungee in a new configuration that results in a faster, higher-flying, more powerful RPM than ever before.

Load Shift
The new configuration of the FlyLine bridle and the location of the pulley and bungee segments give the 2020 RPM a dynamic steering behaviour, unlike any other kite we’ve made. In what is best described as ‘Load Shift’ the FlyLine bridle transfers power and load actively from wingtip-to-wingtip as it flies. 2021 marks our second year splitting the BANDIT into two distinct lines to allow for more versatility, depending on your riding style. There are two separate BANDIT however the work done on the development share similarities. It is this year the case with the improved profile skin tension as well as the trailing edge construction and design.

The new vertical panel layout with its warp line orientation at the back of the profile and the new trailing edge design with our 135gram Dacron have improved a lot the control of the profile and the kite’s weight. This new profile offers a very impressive stability and responsiveness which are essential features for wave riding. The traction and the control of the S2 is so homogenous in any wind condition and everywhere in the window. The BANDIT allows to ride on impulse, which makes you ride more fluid.

Besides that work on the profile and stability, we have modified the outline of the Bandit S2. The centre strut is now shorter and the wing tips wider, the handling is now more reactive and the S2 is following closely your board’s turns. Every aspects of the design have been improved and the profile has been rethought. The leading edge has one more segment on the centre to set an even more clean C shape curve. We have removed one segment on the tips to make them sleeker.

The bar feeling has been tweaked to be even lighter and more precise to react instantly to your input.
When you are wavering and riding strapless you are constantly using the bar to adjust the power and the direction of your kite. That connection with your kite is essential and we always use the term: “bar feeling” but it is a lot more than this. While working on the design of the new BANDIT S2 we have made major improvements on the steering, especially when sheeting out. Most of the time, when de-powered, you are losing the back lines tension and so the steering control. It’s particularly noticeable in on-shore conditions where your kite need to change direction to follow each of your turn. With the BANDIT S2 you will keep the control and a precise steering on every inch of the bar’s throw without any strong pulling effect on your arms. Naturally all your surfing skills, your transitions or jumps will improve thanks to the permanent control.

Power delivery feels exceptionally linear and progressive, with smooth de-power that is highly intuitive allowing you to have a perfect balance and to focus on your surfing or tricks. It never surges in power if you send it back quickly through the window. The control and stability in overpowered conditions along with its impressive vertical lift is making as well the S2 a fantastic kite for strapless freestyle!

We have mainly worked on our testing with the 7m² and we were amazed how much wind we could handle. It was hard to believe we could surf with so much control, freedom and stability in that much wind. On some other days we could play in light wind effortlessly and less technic than usual, pull the bar and let the kite handle with the wind drops and gusts!

The BANDIT S2 is reactive, and light  making it the ideal kite for foiling. The stability of the S during the drift is a great help on a foil especially when your lines are slack during turns or carves.
